Accountant (CA(SA)) – Multi‑Country Tax & Reporting

About the role

Hungry Lion is looking for a proactive CA(SA) accountant to manage tax compliance, multi‑entity reporting and commercial analysis across several African jurisdictions. You will switch between tax filings, monthly reporting, store viability studies and audit coordination, ensuring deadlines are met without compromise.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit income tax, provisional tax, withholding tax and VAT returns for multiple countries, reconciling to revenue authority statements.
• Produce monthly cash‑flow statements, management packs, variance analysis and general‑ledger reconciliations for payroll, fixed assets and bank accounts.
• Conduct store viability analyses, cost‑of‑sales reporting, stock valuation and recommend cost‑improvement actions.
• Agree inter‑company balances, adjust for realised and unrealised foreign‑exchange movements.
• Coordinate external audits, maintain IFRS/GAAP compliance and manage internal financial controls.
• Reconcile payroll data to the general ledger and post necessary corrections.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register, perform monthly reconciliations and run depreciation schedules.
• Execute bank reconciliations for salary and supplier accounts, investigate differences and adjust entries.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification with 1‑3 years post‑articles experience.
• Strong Excel usage on a daily basis for complex reconciliations and reporting.
• Experience with international or multi‑country tax compliance is a strong advantage.
• Background in cost or tax accounting; exposure to quick‑service‑restaurant (QSR) environments is beneficial.
