Account Director

About the role

Brunswick is seeking an Account Director for its Johannesburg office to advise leading African and global organisations on complex financial, corporate and reputational issues. The role combines strategic insight, strong execution and sound judgement to help clients navigate critical business moments and to lead collaborative account teams.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to new business development, pitches and cross‑firm collaboration.
• Develop high‑quality client materials such as press releases, Q&As, briefing documents and stakeholder communications.
• Deliver strategic advice, research and stakeholder analysis, translating complex issues into clear recommendations.
• Manage multiple client workstreams with strong project management, ensuring high‑quality delivery and attention to detail.
• Oversee media and financial stakeholder engagement, leveraging knowledge of business, investor and media landscapes.
• Advise clients on financial and corporate communications, including results, M&A, capital markets activity, corporate positioning and crisis situations.
• Build trusted relationships with senior executives and key stakeholders.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of experience in strategic or financial communications, corporate affairs, advisory or consulting.
• Strong understanding of business, finance, markets and current affairs and how they intersect with corporate reputation.
• Excellent written, verbal, research and analytical skills with ability to simplify complex information.
• Knowledge of the South African business, financial and media landscape and interest in regional dynamics.
• Proven project‑management ability to handle multiple fast‑moving priorities with accuracy.
• High emotional intelligence, commercial judgement and strong interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, intellectually curious and collaborative approach with commitment to exceptional client service.
