Academic Dean - MiaPrep Online Academy of Ohio

About the role

Miaplaza is seeking an Academic Dean to lead its new MiaPrep Online Academy of Ohio, a virtual school offering a flexible public school curriculum for grades 7-11 in its first year, with plans to grow from 250 to over 1,000 students by 2030. The role covers leadership and day-to-day management of the academy, ensuring high-quality instruction and a supportive environment for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise instructional staff, including weekly coaching sessions
• Recruit, onboard and train new teachers, and observe live instruction with constructive feedback
• Oversee grading so students receive timely feedback
• Design and deliver professional development focused on online teaching strategies
• Act as the main link between instructional staff and content development teams
• Manage student conduct processes fairly and consistently
• Analyse school-wide data on student performance, teacher effectiveness and curriculum engagement to refine teaching and academic programmes

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (Master's highly preferred)
• Valid Ohio teaching or administrator's licence, or ability to obtain one quickly
• Minimum three years of teaching experience
• At least two years in a leadership or management role in education
• Demonstrated experience in virtual school environments
