1st Line IT Support Technician – Managed Services

About the role

Our client, a growing Managed IT Services Provider in Cape Town, is seeking an experienced 1st Line IT Support Technician. You will join a collaborative technical services team and gain exposure to a wide variety of desktop, server, cloud, networking and telephony environments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality first‑line support for desktops, servers, cloud platforms and network services.
• Handle inbound support calls and tickets, troubleshoot issues and escalate when required.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as updates, monitoring and hardware checks across client infrastructures.
• Log time, notes and resolutions accurately in the ticketing system.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical documentation and CRM records.

Required profile

• Proven experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.
• Strong work ethic, willingness to learn and grow.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.

Required skills

• Windows 10/11, macOS, Windows Server.
• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file permissions and Group Policy.
• Microsoft 365 suite – Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, user and licence management.
• Fundamental networking knowledge – IP, LAN/WAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN.
• Configuration and support of firewalls and routers.
• IT security tools – EDR/MDR, DNS filtering, email security.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business applications.
