Zone Controller – Logistics Operations

About the role

The Zone Controller oversees courier operations within a designated area, ensuring timely collections, accurate documentation, and safe handling of cargo. This role coordinates staff, equipment, and routes to meet service level agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor on‑time collections by couriers and re‑check shipment sorting.
• Verify that all required materials (stickers, flyers, vouchers, bags, declaration letters, airway bills, etc.) are stocked in courier bins.
• Distribute shipments, run‑sheets and scanners to ground couriers and ensure they leave the station on schedule.
• Provide feedback on route and load distribution to update system routes.
• Determine skeleton staffing, arrange courier vacations, and manage staff time‑keeping and disciplinary actions.
• Oversee vehicle cleanliness, complete daily vehicle checklists, and report accidents or equipment issues.
• Ensure security of cargo, personnel and vehicles, and follow up on outstanding documentation such as PODs, invoices and delivery sheets.
• Generate and reschedule collection sheets, scan collections per procedure, and report daily collection statistics.

Required profile

• Experience supervising courier or logistics teams.
• Strong organisational skills to coordinate staff schedules, equipment and route planning.
• Ability to enforce safety and security standards and handle incident reporting.
• Good communication with senior supervisors, account managers and fleet controllers.

Required skills

• Proficiency with scanning devices and collection‑sheet software.
• Knowledge of vehicle checklist and safety inspection procedures.
• Familiarity with route management and logistics documentation (PODs, airway bills, run‑sheets).
