Workshop Manager - Civil Engineering

About the role

A civil engineering operation is looking for an experienced Workshop Manager to lead its Johannesburg facility. The manager oversees maintenance, repairs and equipment management, ensuring machinery and vehicles are kept to the highest standards, downtime is minimised and the workplace remains safe and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day workshop operations, including maintenance scheduling, equipment servicing and spare parts inventory
• Supervise the workshop team
• Ensure all machinery and vehicles are maintained to the highest standards
• Minimise downtime and maintain a safe, compliant working environment
• Manage budgets while maintaining quality standards

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Workshop Manager or similar supervisory role in construction, mining or civil engineering
• Grade 12 qualification minimum; technical qualifications are advantageous
• Valid driver's licence
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of workshop operations, equipment maintenance and vehicle servicing
• Inventory management and spare parts control
• Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff
• Health and safety compliance knowledge and experience
• Proficiency with workshop management systems and basic computer literacy
