About the role
The Scaffold Works Manager will lead all scaffold activities on construction sites in Johannesburg, ensuring safety, compliance and timely delivery. This hands‑on leader will coordinate day and night shifts, oversee inspections and manage incident investigations.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and supervise all scaffold operations, allocating resources for both day and night shifts.
- Ensure scaffold structures meet design specifications and comply with the OSH Act and Construction Regulations.
- Implement fall‑protection plans, conduct HIRA assessments and act as Permit Acceptor for high‑risk tasks.
- Supervise scaffold crews, verify valid training and perform daily scaffold inspections.
- Investigate scaffold‑related incidents and maintain knowledge of legal liability standards.
- Manage stacking, storage and handling of scaffold materials.
- Prepare reports, inspection records and data capture using MS Office.
Required profile
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Ability to interpret scaffold design drawings and solve problems under pressure.
- Physical capability to work at heights, in confined spaces and on active construction sites.
Required skills
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Working at Height certification.
- Scaffold Erector certification.
- Confined Space Training.
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) certification.
- Proficiency with MS Office for reporting.
