About the role

The City of Devils Lake is seeking a Public Ways Operator I to operate and maintain equipment used for street maintenance and snow removal on city roadways, parking lots and sidewalks. This full‑time position supports safe and reliable public infrastructure throughout the year.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a variety of municipal equipment for road, parking lot and sidewalk maintenance.
• Perform snow removal and de‑icing duties during winter months.
• Conduct routine inspections and minor repairs of public ways.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment usage.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• North Dakota Class B driver’s license with appropriate equipment endorsements.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and pre‑employment drug test.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Class B driver’s license.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – preferred.
