WordPress Developer

About the role

Huzzle connects B2B sales professionals with global companies, and is recruiting an experienced WordPress Developer to join a growing team remotely. You will build, customize, optimize and maintain high-quality WordPress websites, working across front-end and back-end development. The role suits someone with at least 3 years of professional experience who can troubleshoot technical issues independently.

Key responsibilities

• Build and customize WordPress themes, layouts, templates and styles using HTML, CSS and PHP.
• Develop custom WordPress plugins and extensions when existing solutions are insufficient.
• Manage user-facing functionality and back-end components, including server-side logic and database interactions.
• Improve page loading speeds, Core Web Vitals and overall performance on desktop and mobile.
• Implement technical and on-page SEO best practices.
• Ensure responsive design across mobile, tablet and desktop.
• Run security checks and audits, manage core, theme and plugin updates, and follow security best practices.
• Diagnose and fix errors, plugin conflicts, broken functionality and performance issues.
• Perform regular backups and support restoration or recovery, and test sites before deployment.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
• Proven experience customizing WordPress themes and building or modifying custom plugins.
• Strong understanding of front-end and back-end development, and experience with WordPress databases.
• Knowledge of responsive, mobile-first development and website performance optimization.
• Understanding of technical SEO and WordPress security, updates and maintenance.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
