Wine Steward

About the role

The Wine Steward will provide professional food and beverage service in our resort restaurant, delivering exceptional guest experiences and driving revenue through knowledgeable upselling.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare service areas and complete mise en place before each shift.
• Present menus and wine lists, offering detailed product knowledge.
• Use upselling techniques to enhance guest experience and increase sales.
• Manage stock requisitions, control wastage and minimize breakages.
• Accurately bill guests and verify checks before presentation.
• Handle guest complaints professionally in line with resort procedures.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, personal presentation and comply with all health, safety and fire policies.
• Communicate guest feedback to management and contribute to service improvements.
• Provide personalized service based on guest preferences.
• Promote responsible alcohol service in accordance with South African legislation.
• Support sustainability initiatives such as energy and water conservation.
