About the role

Matjhabeng Municipality is seeking qualified professionals for several senior and managerial positions across its planning, housing, land affairs and employee wellness divisions. These roles involve overseeing development control, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with municipal legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Organise personnel, monitor budgets and guide work to ensure effective delivery of municipal planning and development control services.
• Evaluate land use applications, rezoning requests, special consents and building plans in line with the Town Planning Scheme and Land Use Management Plan.
• Develop and manage Integrated Development Plans (IDP) and Spatial Development Business Implementation Plans (SDBIP).
• Coordinate housing administration, supervise service delivery, and liaise with provincial human settlements programmes.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Master’s or Bachelor’s in Town and Regional Planning, National Diploma in Municipal Administration, or B‑Degree in Social Work).
• Registration with the appropriate professional body (e.g., SACPLAN, SA Council for Social Services Professionals).
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience, with at least 2 years at middle‑management level for senior roles.

Required skills

• Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Valid driver’s licence (Code EB where required).
