UPS Technician – Service & Commissioning

About the role

We are looking for an experienced UPS Technician to service, maintain, repair and commission UPS systems, batteries and inverters across South Africa and beyond. The role combines hands‑on technical work with knowledge sharing and occasional sales support.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance of UPS units, batteries and inverters following OEM guidelines and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Commission new installations, ensuring all steps of the OEM commissioning procedure are correctly executed.
• Diagnose faults, repair damaged units using manufacturer‑approved procedures and spare parts, and conduct comprehensive testing (voltage calibration, load tests, battery fail tests).
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians to build team capability.
• Respond to client UPS issues as directed by the reporting manager.
• Travel domestically and internationally to attend service calls and repairs.
• Support sales activities and perform additional related tasks as required.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of experience with UPS systems, batteries and inverters.
• At least 1 year of sales experience and some team‑leadership exposure.
• Matric certificate and an Electrical Engineering Diploma (N6, T3 or S4).
• Valid driver’s licence.
