Unitisation Oversight Specialist (Contract)

About the role

Eskom Pension and Provident Fund is hiring one person on a contract basis in its Finance department to oversee the quality, accuracy and timeliness of unitisation activities. The role provides technical supervision, reviews and approves calculations and reports within delegated authority, supports management with operational reporting and risk management, and promotes continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Review and sign off unitisation calculations, product pricing, reconciliations and reports prepared by the Junior Unitisation Specialist, and verify their accuracy, completeness and integrity
• Investigate and resolve material discrepancies, pricing exceptions and reconciling items, and monitor recurring errors, training needs and control weaknesses
• Monitor the daily unitisation workflow, give technical guidance to the Junior Unitisation Specialist and perform the specialist's duties when required, including during leave or absence
• Report on the team's activities, performance and outstanding deliverables, and highlight service delivery, exceptions, unresolved reconciliations and operational risks
• Monitor compliance with unitisation procedures, internal controls and delegated approval limits, document pricing adjustments and exceptions, and support internal and external audits
• Take part in projects on investment administration, unitisation, product pricing and systems enhancements, and recommend process improvements and automation
• Maintain operational procedures and working papers, share technical knowledge and support cross-training and succession planning

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Investment Administration with exposure to Unitisation
• Strong numeric ability, attention to detail, clear verbal and written communication, and ability to work independently and in a team

Required skills

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Ability to interpret and analyse large quantities of data
• Knowledge of unitisation concepts and pension fund and investment management industry trends
