About the role

The Unit Manager leads the Cardiology Critical Care unit at Mediclinic Vergelegen, ensuring safe patient care and a positive client experience. The role combines clinical oversight with operational and financial management, driving quality and efficiency across the unit.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure safe patient care by meeting clinical quality standards and company policies.
• Manage and mitigate clinical risks within the unit.
• Lead, coach and manage all staff members in the unit.
• Control operational and capital expenses according to budget guidelines.
• Optimize resource utilisation and support inter‑departmental outcomes.
• Contribute actively to a positive client experience and manage stakeholder relations.

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management or an accredited management qualification, or 5 years of leadership experience in a hospital.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing when managing a specialist unit.
• Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience in a hospital.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience in a hospital setting.
