Underground HD Fitter - Africa Operations

About the role

AUMS, part of the Perenti group, is a specialist underground contract mining services business operating across Africa with a fleet of underground mining equipment. It is looking for experienced underground HD fitters on a 6:3 roster to join its African operations. The main focus of the role is mentoring national tradespeople and sharing experience so they develop their skills and knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing of mobile equipment safely, following procedures, regulations and service sheets.
• Mentor, coach and develop national trades personnel.
• Use skill and experience to minimise downtime on machinery.
• Ensure maintenance is recorded and reported correctly.
• Maintain good housekeeping in workshops and work areas.
• Read and interpret service and spare parts manuals.
• Report equipment faults to the Maintenance Foreman for inclusion in the weekly workshop plan.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of post-apprenticeship experience in underground mining on large mobile equipment.
• Experience training less qualified tradespeople to a high standard in an underground contracting environment.
• Background with modern SANDVIK, CAT and Atlas underground mobile equipment and automation systems.
• Passion for safety and a proactive, self-starting approach with minimal supervision.
• International driver's licence; full pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol test, site clearances, police clearance and vaccinations required.

• Auto electrics, hydraulic circuit schematics and diesel engine maintenance.
