Undergraduate Lecturer – Nursing (Grade 1/2)

About the role

The Western Cape College of Nursing seeks qualified professionals to join its campuses as Undergraduate Lecturers in Nursing (Grade 1 or Grade 2). The role involves delivering education and training to student nurses across multiple campuses.

Key responsibilities

• Provide education and training to student nurses and supervise their clinical learning.
• Coordinate clinical placements and accompany students in clinical settings.
• Develop, implement and review nursing curricula for undergraduate diploma programmes.
• Ensure quality assurance and compliance with SANC and CHE regulations.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and participate in college governance.
• Support continuous professional development activities and promote the college’s mission.

Required profile

• Grade 1: minimum 4 years of recognised nursing experience; Grade 2: minimum 14 years, with at least 10 years in nursing education after a post‑basic qualification in Nursing Education.
• Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree) accredited by SANC and a post‑basic qualification in Nursing Education registered with SANC.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse (and Midwife or Psychiatric Nurse where applicable).
• Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence and willingness to travel.

Required skills

• Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy frameworks and nursing education curricula.
• Proficiency in teaching, assessment and evaluation approaches in nursing education.
• Computer literacy.

What we offer

• Grade 1 salary: R 451 533 – R 530 376 per annum; Grade 2 salary: R 553 545 – R 686 211 per annum.
