Ultra Truck Operator

About the role

The Ultra‑Truck Operator is responsible for safely hauling and dumping ore or waste at the Sishen mine complex. You will follow strict health, safety and environmental standards while ensuring optimal payload and cycle times.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect the truck and safety devices (collision avoidance, cameras, fatigue monitoring, fire suppression, tyre condition) at the start and end of each shift.
• Load, haul and dump material according to predetermined routes, road signs and cycle‑time targets.
• Coordinate with shovel operators, road construction teams and the dispatch control room to maintain efficient truck flow, especially during unplanned events.
• Identify hazards, report equipment defects, and participate in safety meetings, SLAM/HIRA assessments and incident investigations.
• Maintain housekeeping standards, clean equipment and safety signage, and assist supervisors and co‑workers as required.

Required profile

• Grade 12/N3 qualification.
• Valid Red Permit, Dover Certificate and SA Driver’s License.
• At least three years of operational experience in a mining environment.
• Familiarity with the Sishen mine pit layout and haul‑road network.

Required skills

• Red Permit.
• Dover Certificate.
• Competency A and relevant HME licences.
• Operation of collision avoidance, fire suppression and vehicle stability systems.
• SA Driver’s License.
