About the role
The UIF Skills Programme offered by Pick n Pay Retailers provides unemployed South African youth with a six‑month, paid training pathway into retail. Participants rotate through real store environments, gaining hands‑on experience in areas such as general store operations, butchery, bakery, and health & beauty.
Key responsibilities
- Assist customers with product selection and service across designated retail sections.
- Perform daily operational tasks including stocking, merchandising, and cash handling.
- Develop specialised skills in butchery, bakery production, or health & beauty product knowledge, depending on the chosen track.
- Complete online learning modules and apply new knowledge on the shop floor.
Required profile
- South African citizen, aged 18‑40, currently unemployed.
- Matric (Grade 12) qualification completed.
- Strong interest in retail and willingness to learn practical skills.
Required skills
- Specialist butchery skills (for butchery track).
- Bakery production skills (for bakery track).
- Health & Beauty product knowledge (for health & beauty track).
What we offer
