Transport Supervisor

About the role

The Transport Supervisor supports the Management Team with day‑to‑day operations of the Transport Department, leading a group of operators to ensure efficient transport performance and achievement of business targets. The role includes line management, workload coordination, issue monitoring and ensuring operational KPIs, quality standards and customer requirements are met.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily transport operations, including planning, vehicle bookings, dispatch, delivery, debrief and returns procedures.
• Oversee shunt truck inspections, roadworthiness, fault reporting and incident investigations.
• Maintain and update the Transport Management System (TMS) with customer orders, load information, PODs and costings.
• Ensure vehicle servicing, utilisation, and compliance with safety standards and service intervals.
• Coordinate shift planning, staff scheduling and weekend shift coverage.
• Handle customer communications, order tracking, POD management and query resolution.
• Monitor profit and loss metrics, vehicle utilisation, overtime and damage control.
• Lead staff discipline, engagement, succession planning and HR related queries.
• Conduct weekly maintenance meetings, follow‑ups with operations teams and ensure ISO 9001‑2015 compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Transport Management System (TMS) for dispatch, load planning and tracking.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards and ability to apply them in transport operations.
