Trainee Store Manager – Retail Operations

About the role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a motivated Trainee Manager for its East Rand Region. You will work closely with an experienced store manager to learn all aspects of store operations, from inventory control to sales performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage inventory processes, including goods in transit, cycle counts, stock takes and shrinkage control.
• Ensure efficient stock flow to the sales floor and support ordering to maintain optimal levels of FMCG, health and beauty products.
• Assist with planning and maintaining promotional displays, labeling, pricing and store layout standards.
• Participate in goods receiving, transaction integrity checks and daily cash‑up procedures.
• Support the achievement of store sales targets by collaborating with department heads and executing promotions.
• Monitor store expenses, prepare basic financial reconciliations and contribute ideas to improve profitability.

Required profile

• Grade 12/Matric qualification.
• 1–2 years experience in retail store management (stock, cash, reporting, expense control, customer service).
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
• Willingness to work retail hours and possess a valid driver’s licence with reliable transport.
• Advantageous: a 3‑year diploma in Finance, Administration or a related field.
