Trainee Store Manager – Durbanville

About the role

Econofoods, a fast‑growing FMCG retail company specializing in frozen foods, is looking for a dynamic Trainee Store Manager to lead its Durbanville store. The role involves driving sales, ensuring world‑class customer service, and maintaining high store standards while supporting the company’s HO HOLA culture.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and promote sales by delivering exceptional customer service.
• Maintain outstanding store standards, merchandising, pricing and product availability.
• Assist with stock receiving, counts, expiry management and condition monitoring.
• Recruit, train and manage a high‑performing team while fostering the HO HOLA culture.
• Handle cash management, including floats, daily banking and cashier support.
• Oversee health and safety, hygiene, food quality and safety compliance.
• Analyze store sales data to identify growth opportunities.
• Manage opening/closing procedures, security and store operations.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate; tertiary qualification is an advantage.
• 3‑5 years experience as a retail store manager or assistant manager, preferably in FMCG.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and delivering excellent customer service.
• Strong knowledge of retail operations, inventory management and merchandising.
• Valid driver’s licence (own vehicle preferred).
