Trainee Accountant - SAICA Graduate Programme (Feb 2027)

About the role

SNG Grant Thornton is recruiting first-year trainee accountants for its Assurance division in Johannesburg. The training contract starts in February 2027 and is designed to help candidates meet the SAICA competencies needed to register as a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)).

Key responsibilities

• Complete the SAICA training contract within the Assurance division.
• Work on a wide range of client engagements across different industries.
• Gain hands-on experience with clients and their management teams.
• Work with businesses of all sizes, from listed companies to new start-ups.
• Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced staff, and build skills with managers and partners who keep an open-door approach.

Required profile

• Honours, PGDA or CTA, or an equivalent qualification from a SAICA-recognised university.
• Keen willingness to learn, with energy and ambition for the audit team.
• Ability to build good working relationships with clients and to work well in diverse teams.
• Commitment to personal development and growth.

Required skills

• Strong technical ability.
• High attention to detail, with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound professional judgement and strong organisational skills.
