Toolroom Team Leader – Automotive Stamping (Pretoria)

About the role

The client is looking for an experienced Toolroom Team Leader to head a tooling maintenance team in a high‑volume automotive stamping environment. You will be responsible for ensuring tooling availability, maintaining production continuity and driving effective maintenance practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the tooling maintenance team to meet production targets.
• Ensure availability of tools, jigs, dies and progressive/transfer tooling.
• Oversee preventative maintenance programmes and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain compliance with 5S, IATF/ISO standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant Tool, Jig & Die, Millwright or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in sheet‑metal stamping.
• 3–5 years’ experience managing or leading a tooling department.
• Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM and technical drawings.
• Proven experience with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with 5S, IATF/ISO standards and continuous improvement.
• Computer literate – proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong leadership, planning and people‑management abilities.
