Technical Trainer

About the role

We are looking for a Technical Trainer to lead the Plastics Technician Apprenticeship Programme, delivering classroom, workshop and on‑the‑job training on plastics manufacturing equipment and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and maintain the training calendar, integrating Austrian topics and South African curriculum.
• Design and update lesson plans, training materials and assessment tools.
• Facilitate classroom and workshop sessions, preparing facilities and equipment for each module.
• Provide theory instruction in plastic processing, material science and related subjects.
• Guide apprentices through practical skills, personal development and assessment preparation.
• Maintain and perform preventive maintenance on all training machines and ensure their readiness.
• Monitor apprentice logbooks, compile monthly progress reports and ensure compliance with QCTO and MerSETA standards.
• Collaborate with plant technical staff to keep training content current with technological developments.

Required profile

• Trade‑related occupational certification.
• 3–5 years of industry experience after apprenticeship, preferably in plastic packaging.
• 2–5 years of experience as a facilitator or assessor.
• Knowledge of QCTO and MerSETA quality and assessment processes.
• Ability to work safely and uphold plant and workshop safety standards.
