Technical Sales Engineer

About the role

The geosynthetics manufacturer is looking for a Technical Sales Engineer to promote and sell advanced civil‑engineering solutions across South Africa. You will act as the technical advisor for infrastructure, construction and engineering firms, ensuring customer needs are identified and met.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver presentations to engineering consultants and key contractors to build brand awareness.
• Conduct site visits, assess requirements and propose tailored technical solutions.
• Research, write technical papers and submit them for conferences.
• Develop training material and conduct training for internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor industry standards, regulations and trends; keep competitors under review.
• Identify, qualify and generate new sales opportunities through visits, events and market research.
• Achieve sales targets and report progress to the Manager.
• Collaborate with production, logistics, customer service and product development teams to deliver solutions efficiently.

Required profile

• Proven sales and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑driven with excellent time‑management and organisational capabilities.
• Familiarity with BBBEE compliance, local procurement and government tender processes.
• Solid technical knowledge of civil‑engineering principles and geosynthetic applications.
