Technical Operations Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Operations Manager for our Phoenix branch in Durban, KZN. The role will lead and coordinate the company’s technical and operational functions across production, laboratory, packaging and customer support, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, efficiency and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the production, laboratory and packaging departments to ensure safe, efficient and effective performance.
• Formulate and implement technical strategy and policy that provides overall direction for the organisation.
• Organise, manage and guarantee ongoing customer support for existing and potential customers.
• Plan, coordinate and optimise operational resources to meet production targets, maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
• Provide direct laboratory support to resolve technical problems, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Manage maintenance of production equipment, machinery and facilities, ensuring preventive maintenance programmes are in place.
• Maintain quality management systems, technical standards and regulatory compliance.
• Lead staff, uphold industrial relations and ensure adherence to company policies.
• Identify, assess and manage business and operational risks, monitoring key risk indicators.
• Promote SHEQ goals, health‑and‑safety practices and environmental sustainability initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and maintain sound industrial relations.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills, using logic and advanced methods.
• Commitment to health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Experience in managing preventive maintenance programmes and equipment reliability.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements and consequences of non‑compliance.
