Technical Director – Water & Wastewater Treatment

About the role

Zutari’s EX Water team is a specialised engineering design group serving international clients in Australia and Europe. The role is to lead and grow the water and wastewater treatment process team, delivering high‑quality designs and managing project delivery for key clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of water and wastewater process engineers, ensuring quality and timeliness on international projects.
• Act as the lead process design engineer, performing hydraulic, physical, biological and chemical modelling and design.
• Review and verify process designs, produce technical and business reports, and manage project assignments.
• Apply Zutari EX’s quality control procedures across all projects and maintain required standards.

Required profile

• BSc/BEng in Civil, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering plus a master’s in water/wastewater treatment.
• Professional Engineer registration (ECSA or equivalent) and 12+ years of experience in water and wastewater treatment projects.
• Proven leadership and communication skills, with ability to collaborate across disciplines and geographies.

Required skills

• Water and wastewater treatment process design and optimisation, including aquatic chemistry.
• Proficiency with engineering design software and analytical tools for hydraulic, physical, biological and chemical modelling.
• Working knowledge of BIM processes.
