Technical Assistant – Food Safety & Management Systems

About the role

A leading organisation in quality assurance, auditing and certification seeks a Technical Assistant to support the Technical Manager in technical governance, management systems, auditor performance and certification requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor implementation of management systems such as FSA, HACCP, FSSC, SHEQ, CSR, Academy and Testing.
• Monitor auditor performance, coordinate assessments and competence reviews.
• Technically review audit reports before release to clients or business units.
• Develop and maintain audit checklists, reports, consideration documents and accreditation procedures.
• Communicate changes to standards, procedures, legislation and other technical requirements to stakeholders.
• Support certification decisions, monitor technical non‑conformities and corrective actions, and act as 2IC to the Technical Manager when required.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years industry experience with management systems and scheme auditing.
• Minimum 2 years experience in certification and accreditation requirements.
• Experience managing personnel and strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and auditing principles.

Required skills

• FSA, HACCP, FSSC, SHEQ, CSR management systems.
• ISO 19011 and IRCA/SAATCA scheme requirements.
• Microsoft Office and general computer proficiency.
