Team Leader – Recruitment (External Agency)

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic, performance‑driven Team Leader to head a pod of recruitment consultants in our fast‑paced external agency based in Cape Town. The role combines hands‑on billing with leadership, requiring you to meet your own revenue targets while coaching and developing your team to achieve theirs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and motivate a team of permanent and/or contract recruitment consultants.
• Conduct weekly pipeline reviews, daily check‑ins and provide real‑time support.
• Drive performance through KPIs, activity metrics and accountability, addressing under‑performance early.
• Maintain a personal billing desk, delivering against individual revenue targets and managing key accounts.
• Model strong client management, role qualification and negotiation; step in to close deals or remove delivery bottlenecks.
• Ensure CRM/ATS data hygiene, collaborate with admin and typing teams to uphold delivery standards.
• Contribute to internal reporting, team meetings, strategic planning and special projects.

Required profile

• 4+ years of recruitment experience in an external agency environment.
• Proven personal billing record with consistent target achievement.
• At least 6–12 months of experience managing or mentoring 2–3 consultants.
• Strong understanding of the full recruitment lifecycle, sourcing strategies and client development.
• Excellent communication, high emotional intelligence and ability to motivate diverse personalities.
• Organised, driven and thrives in a high‑performance culture.
