Team Leader Production Shift Supervisor

About the role

Avery Dennison, a global materials science and manufacturing company, is hiring a Team Leader Production Shift Supervisor in Gauteng. The role covers dispatch, stock control, vehicle management, production targets, quality assurance, continuous improvement and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Dispatch: meet daily delivery targets, ensure correct labelling and packaging, follow quality checks, documentation and on-time delivery procedures, reconcile system versus actual deliveries daily, and handle customer claims and collections via Salesforce.
• Stock control: manage consumables, control raw material handling, monitor master roll and slit stock with monthly cycle counts, investigate inventory deviations, control scrap and dispose of it properly.
• Drivers and vehicles: keep licences and PDPs in order, service and clean vehicles weekly, inspect delivery vehicles and forklifts daily and report defects.
• Productivity: meet production targets, maximise slitter utilisation, deploy manpower optimally and improve productivity with the Automated Recording System for Finishing System.
• Quality assurance: uphold quality standards, coordinate with the Dispatch Supervisor on final product quality, and resolve customer complaints.
• ELS: identify and implement continuous improvement and cost-reduction opportunities, maintain a strong 5S focus.
• EHS: enforce PPE compliance, follow safety policies, and report and act on near misses and unsafe acts.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with an Operations, Engineering or Production Management qualification.
• 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, including at least 3 years leading teams at supervisory level.
• Knowledge of ELS and continuous improvement is an advantage.

Required skills

• Leadership, communication (written and verbal), decision-making and planning and organising.
• Microsoft Office (Excel essential).
• Warehouse inventory management systems such as MFGPro, Nautilus, Manhattan or SAP.
• Report writing, numerical and management skills.
