Team Leader Managed Care

About the role

We are looking for a Team Leader Managed Care to provide clarity, consistency and accountability while preserving strong governance and ethical decision‑making. The role supports consultants and Service Managers to keep Managed Care sustainable, compliant and high‑performing.

Key responsibilities

• Act as primary line manager for assigned consultants, handling attendance, scheduling, leave planning and shift adherence.
• Conduct regular one‑on‑one check‑ins, performance conversations and address first‑line performance or behavioural issues.
• Oversee onboarding and integration of new team members.
• Manage daily queues, workflow and task allocation, ensuring adherence to agreed TATs and SLAs.
• Balance workload across consultants to maintain service continuity and act as first escalation point for operational issues.
• Ensure consultants apply scheme rules, SOPs and clinical protocols correctly and address quality issues identified through QA feedback.
• Reinforce consistent documentation, support corrective action plans from audits and provide in‑the‑moment guidance on challenging cases.
• Monitor team performance using operational dashboards, track volumes, productivity, attendance and SLA adherence, and flag early warning signs of backlog or performance drift.
• Provide qualitative insight to Service Managers and support implementation of corrective actions.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education and a nursing qualification.
• Strong working knowledge of managed healthcare rules and processes.
• Demonstrated leadership credibility among peers.
• Ability to balance performance discipline with supportive leadership.
• High ethical standards and respect for governance frameworks.

Required skills

• Knowledge of managed healthcare regulations and SOPs.
• Experience with operational dashboards and performance monitoring.
• Understanding of quality assurance processes in a clinical environment.
