Team Leader - Civils

About the role

The Team Leader – Civil Projects will lead small teams in the installation of aerial and civil fibre infrastructure for Herotel in the East London/Eastern region. The role focuses on planning, coordinating and delivering high‑quality installations while meeting cost and safety targets.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange and schedule aerial pole planting, fibre stringing and all civil works.
• Manage team tools, vehicle and equipment, reporting any damage or loss immediately.
• Ensure installations meet quality standards and adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Control installation spending, track resource usage and report progress to site managers.
• Maintain stock and material distribution, and prioritize implementation tasks.
• Provide on‑site client liaison, complete job cards and submit timesheets.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification (minimum).
• Technical training or relevant certifications (e.g., health and safety) considered an asset.
• Experience with fibre‑optic troubleshooting tools such as OTDR and mass fusion splicing.
• Valid driver’s licence with a clean record.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy equipment.
• Strong planning, self‑discipline, motivation and organisational skills.
• Management experience and customer‑service orientation.
