Team Lead – Port and Quality

About the role

Kumba Iron Ore is seeking a Team Lead – Port and Quality to oversee product quality at the rail‑to‑port interface. The role ensures safe, efficient loading of vessels while maximising revenue and meeting customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Apply SHEQ standards to maintain a safe working environment.
• Plan and optimise train off‑loading, product blending and vessel loading to maximise value.
• Manage stockpiles, stacking and reclaiming activities to achieve optimal terminal loading rates.
• Maintain accountability for quality certification approvals and continuously review processes for value maximisation.
• Collect and analyse port intelligence to advise Marketing teams.
• Prepare and distribute port schedules, issue logs, quality plans and business plans.
• Lead, develop and support direct reports to achieve business targets.
• Ensure compliance with Anglo American Group policies and security standards.
• Coordinate with Transnet Port Terminals, sampling plant operators, stevedores, trucking contractors and internal quality departments.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a port or mining environment.
• Strong understanding of product quality, blending and export logistics.
• Ability to analyse market and operational data to support decision‑making.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
