About the role

Werfnet is seeking a motivated Tax Assistant to join its professional team in Pretoria. The role focuses on tax administration, compliance and client service, requiring accurate work and confident interaction with clients and SARS.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all tax administration and compliance tasks.
• Prepare and submit SARS returns, handle enquiries, revisions, audits and objections.
• Maintain tax registrations and deregistrations.
• Administer VAT, income tax, provisional tax and PAYE.
• Reconcile EMP501 statements and handle COIDA and UIF filings.
• Prepare financial statements and trial balances.
• Maintain bookkeeping up to trial balance stage.
• Interpret tax directives and liaise with SARS on behalf of clients.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in tax administration or audit.
• Relevant qualification in Accounting, Tax or Finance (any tax qualification is advantageous).
• Excellent knowledge of South African tax legislation.
• High level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills in both Afrikaans and English (fluent written and spoken).
• Proactive attitude with good problem‑solving abilities.
