Systems Operations Administrator (SysOps)

About the role

1-grid is a fast-growing web hosting company in Cape Town with an established customer base. The Systems Operations Administrator monitors, maintains and supports the company's infrastructure and hosting environments, responding to incidents and keeping production systems available. The role is in-office in Cape Town and is not remote or hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor servers and infrastructure, investigate alerts and logs, and perform initial troubleshooting before escalation
• Respond to incidents and outages, document them and track them to resolution
• Maintain server environments, apply updates and patches, configure and restore backups, and tune performance
• Help introduce new technology into datacentre environments and assist the Support team with infrastructure queries
• Support infrastructure security, follow access controls and document changes
• Maintain technical documentation, infrastructure inventory and operational improvements

Required profile

• Relevant IT qualification, certification or equivalent practical experience
• Hands-on exposure to Linux and/or Windows Server administration
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP and common internet services
• Exposure to monitoring tools and incident troubleshooting; web hosting, ISP, datacentre, cloud or infrastructure experience is advantageous
• Linux, Microsoft, CompTIA Network+ or Server+ certification is advantageous
