About the role
The Switchboard Operator will be the first point of contact for callers to Life Hilton Private Hospital. Reporting to the Admission Supervisor, the role supports the nursing team by managing phone traffic, handling messages and providing general administrative assistance.
Key responsibilities
- Answer the switchboard, transfer calls and take messages as required.
- Update and maintain the telephone directory.
- Retrieve patient folders or accounts on request.
- Assist reception staff with routine reception duties.
- Distribute and sell staff meal tickets.
- Prepare, update and circulate the daily on‑call list.
- Perform any other administrative tasks that arise throughout the day.
Required profile
- Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of general administrative experience.
- Strong attention to detail and result‑oriented mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Experience using SAP.
