Supplier Quality Warranty & Maintenance Engineer

About the role

The Supplier Quality Warranty & Maintenance Engineer will lead the resolution of quality issues that arise during revenue service and maintenance of Alstom's rail products. Based at the Nigel production site, the role requires frequent travel to customer depots and supplier locations across South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary interface between Alstom teams and external suppliers for problem‑solving of quality issues in warranty and maintenance periods.
• Lead containment, corrective‑action and solution implementation, ensuring timely closure of Kx and NCR items.
• Maintain and monitor the Supplier Quality portal, logging issues and notifications to suppliers.
• Support root‑cause analysis (RCA) and develop corrective actions to meet D4 & D6 KPI targets.
• Manage supplier performance with a dynamic escalation process and consolidate Cost of Non‑Quality (CONQ) for claim recovery.
• Report critical situations to the Supplier Quality manager and drive escalation meetings.
• Implement and sustain warranty and maintenance processes in each depot, addressing quality drift.
• Lead and develop the SQ Warranty & Maintenance team.

Required profile

• Engineering background with experience in supplier quality, warranty or maintenance in the rail or heavy‑industry sector.
• Proven ability to manage cross‑functional projects and lead problem‑solving initiatives.
• Willingness to travel regularly to depots and supplier sites.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
