Structural Engineer

About the role

We are a leading consulting engineering practice looking for a professionally registered Structural Engineer (ECSA Pr. Eng) or a candidate close to registration to join our Cape Town team. The role involves managing structural projects, delivering reinforced‑concrete and steel designs, and providing technical leadership on large‑scale developments.

Key responsibilities

• Independently manage multiple structural engineering projects from concept through delivery.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives, budgets and timelines are met.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, calculations and other engineering documentation.
• Develop conceptual designs, conduct feasibility studies and produce value‑engineered structural solutions.
• Perform structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete, structural steel and load‑bearing systems using Prokon and finite‑element tools.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their technical development.
• Conduct site inspections and attend project and client meetings, travelling to sites as required.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering.
• ECSA Professional Registration (Pr. Eng) or candidate close to registration.
• 3‑5+ years of experience in structural engineering, preferably on multi‑storey commercial concrete and steel projects.
• Strong project‑management and client‑relationship skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
