Structural Design Engineer

About the role

Strength60 is looking for a motivated and proactive Structural Design Engineer to join its growing team. The role offers the chance to own projects, solve complex engineering challenges, and collaborate closely with clients, architects and contractors across commercial, residential and industrial sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver structural engineering designs from concept through detailed design and construction documentation.
• Perform structural analysis and design for reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry and timber elements.
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports and technical documentation.
• Review and coordinate drafting team drawings, providing clear mark‑ups and technical support.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary consultants throughout project lifecycles.
• Attend site inspections, resolve RFIs and support technical problem‑solving on‑site.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring accuracy, schedule adherence and compliance with relevant standards.

Required profile

• Structural engineering qualification from a recognized institution.
• 5–8 years of experience in structural engineering within the built environment.
• Proven experience delivering designs and documentation for steel and concrete structures.
• Strong understanding of South African design codes and industry standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Professional registration with ECSA or progress towards registration is highly advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience with structural analysis/design software (e.g., FEA modeling).
