Stores Supervisor

About the role

As a Stores Supervisor you will lead the workshop stores team, ensuring that all parts, consumables and high‑value items are available when needed to keep the fleet operating at peak efficiency. You will be responsible for end‑to‑end inventory management, procurement and compliance within a fast‑paced logistics environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily workshop store operations including receiving, issuing, storage and stock control.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, stock takes and variance reconciliation.
• Monitor Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) inventory and allocate job cards accurately.
• Manage procurement activities and nurture supplier relationships.
• Control issuing, returns and adjustments of workshop stock and high‑value items.
• Maintain tool and equipment registers, including audits and calibration records.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, audit requirements and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Supervise, coach and develop stores personnel while driving continuous improvement.
• Produce inventory reports and identify opportunities for operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Matric qualification; post‑matric study in Logistics, Inventory Management or Supply Chain is advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years experience in workshop stores or fleet logistics.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or inventory‑control role.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle components, parts procurement and inventory management.

Required skills

• Experience with inventory management systems such as Sage, Pastel or Eclipse.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
