Storeman Buyer

About the role

The Storeman Buyer is responsible for maintaining adequate maintenance stock levels and ensuring timely procurement of spare parts, tools and equipment. This role supports the maintenance department by guaranteeing that all required materials are available, accurately recorded and issued in line with operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain stock min/max levels and eliminate losses or shrinkage.
• Receive, unpack, inspect and record incoming deliveries against purchase orders.
• Issue spares, tools and equipment to maintenance teams as required.
• Conduct monthly stocktakes and keep store records up to date.
• Identify reliable suppliers, request quotes and evaluate vendors on price, quality and delivery.
• Negotiate contracts, discounts and delivery schedules; issue purchase orders and track deliveries.
• Ensure housekeeping and safety standards within the store.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education.
• 3–5 years experience in a workshop or engineering environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Problem‑solving and continuous‑improvement mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with C works (or similar inventory management system).
