Store Designer

About the role

Join South Africa’s leading fashion retailer as a Store Designer, based at Truworths’ head office in Cape Town. You will create innovative store layouts that reflect brand aesthetics while supporting operational efficiency in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop innovative store layouts and floor plans aligned with brand aesthetics and operational needs.
• Collaborate with Tenant Coordinators, Architects, Project Managers, Visual Display, Marketing, Operations, and Suppliers to ensure cohesive execution.
• Create detailed 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD, SketchUp, and similar tools.
• Maximize product display and optimise customer traffic flow to support sales.
• Ensure design consistency with brand guidelines across all locations.
• Assist in selecting materials, finishes, fixtures, flooring, and lighting that meet design vision and budget constraints.
• Manage project costs in line with approved budgets and timelines.
• Review store build post‑opening and suggest design improvements.
• Stay informed about retail design trends and incorporate innovative ideas.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in retail or commercial design.
• Strong creativity, attention to detail and communication abilities.
• Proven project‑management capabilities.
• Creative, detail‑oriented, solutions‑focused and able to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Passionate about retail design, motivated, team‑player and aligned with Truworths values.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in SketchUp.
• Proficiency in Adobe Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator).
