Staff Nurse (Grade 1-3) – Chief Level

About the role

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is seeking Staff Nurses at Grade 1 to 3 level to work at the Metro TB Hospital Complex. The role involves providing basic clinical nursing care, developing patient care plans and ensuring effective use of resources.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement basic patient care.
• Provide basic clinical nursing care.
• Utilize physical and financial resources effectively.
• Maintain professional growth, ethical standards and self‑development.

Required profile

• Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse.
• Registration with SANC as a Staff Nurse.
• Grade 2: minimum 10 years nursing experience after registration; Grade 3: minimum 20 years experience; Grade 1: no experience required.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, night duty and overtime.
• Willingness to rotate between wards within the hospital.
• Basic communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to function as part of a team.
• Enhance patient care through implementation of SOPs, policies and guidelines.

• Grade 1: R229 440 per annum.
• Grade 2: R272 778 per annum.
• Grade 3: R319 071 per annum.
