Spanish-Speaking Pastry Cook – Cruise Ship Galley

About the role

A Spanish-speaking Pastry Cook is needed in the pastry section of an international cruise ship galley, working within a Spanish-speaking team. The cook prepares desserts, pastries, breads, cakes and baked goods for high-volume service in main dining rooms, buffets and crew dining, and works long shifts on contracts of several months at sea.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare desserts, pastries, breads, cakes and baked goods in the pastry section
• Work with the Pastry Chef and pastry team on recipe, portion and presentation standards
• Handle mise en place, baking and finishing
• Keep the pastry section, equipment and storage clean and organised according to public health and food safety standards (USPH/HACCP), including allergen control
• Assist with stock rotation

Required profile

• Fluent spoken Spanish; good spoken and written English
• Minimum 3 years' pastry or bakery experience in a professional hotel, resort or cruise ship kitchen
• Grade 12 or equivalent completed secondary education
• Valid passport
• Preferred: international kitchen experience, pastry or culinary qualification, high-volume or banquet/buffet experience, and cruise ship experience
