Solar Sales Manager – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

About the role

The Solar Sales Manager – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will lead and expand Armstrong Appointments’ BESS sales across Southern African markets. The role focuses on building strategic market presence, managing key accounts and collaborating with a high‑performing regional sales team to target utility‑scale power plants, mining energy solutions and hybrid power systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Africa regional sales strategy for utility‑scale BESS solutions aligned with company growth objectives.
• Lead, mentor and work with a high‑performing sales team across target African markets.
• Establish scalable go‑to‑market models combining direct sales and strategic partnerships.
• Identify priority markets such as utility projects, mining energy, hybrid generation and off‑grid electrification opportunities.
• Drive revenue growth and achieve regional sales targets.
• Build and maintain relationships with utilities, independent power producers, mining companies, EPC contractors and government stakeholders.
• Lead complex commercial negotiations, including EPC supply agreements and long‑term service contracts.
• Collaborate with engineering, product management, project execution, finance and marketing teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 7 + years of experience in sales or business development, preferably in large‑scale power infrastructure.
• Proven track record in selling utility‑scale electricity generation or energy infrastructure solutions.
• Strong understanding of African energy markets and procurement structures.
• Experience leading cross‑functional teams and managing strategic accounts.
• Proficiency in CRM software and the MS Office Suite.
