Software Engineer

About the role

Old Mutual Corporate IT is looking for a motivated Software Engineer to design, build, implement and support scalable software solutions that drive business growth and enhance customer experience. The role sits within an agile engineering team and focuses on delivering high‑quality applications across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software applications and services, translating business and technical requirements into secure, scalable solutions.
• Participate in technical design sessions, contribute to architecture decisions and create reusable components, APIs and integration mechanisms.
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, architects, testers and operations to analyse requirements, provide estimates and support sprint planning.
• Monitor production systems, resolve incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and implement fixes to improve reliability and performance.
• Develop and maintain automated unit, integration and regression tests, support CI/CD pipelines, version control and release management.
• Contribute to observability, logging and monitoring to ensure production‑readiness.
