Software Engineer (Hybrid – Derby)

About the role

Motorpoint is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join its innovative Engineering team. You will work on the Motorpoint.co.uk website, helping to streamline and enhance the car‑buying journey for thousands of customers. The role is hybrid, requiring you to be in the Derby office at least three days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise large‑scale, customer‑facing web applications.
• Improve user experience and performance, ensuring every millisecond counts.
• Handle high traffic spikes of up to half a million requests per second across the ecosystem.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver new features and maintain existing functionality.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and continuous integration processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of commercial experience building web applications.
• Strong logical problem‑solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
