Social Media Strategist

About the role

Reporting to the Brand, Content & Design Lead, you will own Discover Africa’s organic social presence across its travel brands. You will craft an insight‑driven strategy that builds awareness, engages travellers, and supports business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive social media strategy, defining objectives, audiences, content pillars and publishing cadence.
• Plan, schedule and publish platform‑native content on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and emerging channels.
• Create engaging copy, simple graphics and short‑form video for Reels, Stories, TikTok and YouTube Shorts, repurposing long‑form assets where appropriate.
• Manage community interaction, responding to comments and messages in the brand’s tone of voice.
• Monitor trends, platform updates and emerging formats, experimenting responsibly with AI tools to improve efficiency without compromising authenticity.

Required profile

• Passion for travel and storytelling with a strong understanding of social media ecosystems.
• Ability to work collaboratively with brand, content and design teams to meet deadlines.
• Proactive mindset, comfortable managing multiple platforms and adapting to fast‑changing trends.

Required skills

• Proficiency in creating platform‑native content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube.
• Experience producing and editing short‑form video content.
• Competence in designing simple graphics using templates.
• Familiarity with responsible use of AI for research, copywriting and workflow optimisation.
