Social Media and Marketing Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a self‑starter to own the organisation's entire digital presence, from social media content to the website. This hands‑on, all‑rounder position requires initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Push, manage, and optimise content across all social media platforms to grow visibility and engagement.
• Build and populate the website, handling both front‑end and back‑end development with the audience in mind.
• Identify gaps in the current site and proactively implement improvements.
• Own Google optimisation and SEO to maximise organic reach.
• Design and produce marketing materials and creative assets from scratch.
• Manage the organisation's database and mailing lists.
• Plan and manage marketing projects from concept to delivery.
• Promote published articles and books to increase research visibility.

Required profile

• A genuine self‑starter comfortable working with minimal supervision.
• Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing.
• Working knowledge of SEO and Google optimisation.
• Creative mindset with an eye for design and a builder’s attitude.
• Excellent organisational and project‑management skills.
• Confident, clear communicator.
• Own equipment, reliable connectivity and backup power.
• Based in Gauteng and able to attend the Bedfordview office once a week.
