Skipper/Driver (Category R) with Passenger Endorsement – Cape Town

About the role

We are looking for a dual‑qualified Skipper/Driver to safely operate a craft for up to 40 passengers at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. This position is ideal for a safety‑focused individual, possibly semi‑retired or seeking part‑time work, who enjoys interacting with guests in a tourism setting.

Key responsibilities

• Command the craft, ensuring safe operation on land and water and compliance with the Seahorse MkIII Operations Manual.
• Conduct daily, weekly, monthly and annual safety and maintenance checks, and keep the vessel clean and presentable.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, complete logbooks, and report any defects or incidents.
• Collect the craft from the overnight garage, park it at the kiosk, and drive scheduled trips according to the roster.
• Assist the tour guide in delivering an engaging passenger experience.
• Refuel, secure, and lock the craft and facilities at the end of the shift.
• Attend mandatory refresher courses (fire safety, first aid, crowd management) and maintain all required certifications.
• Adhere to zero‑tolerance policies on alcohol or substance use and participate in random testing.

Required profile

• Road licence: Code C / C10 Heavy Duty Driver’s Licence with PDP.
• Water licence: Category R Skipper Certificate (>9m) with Passenger Endorsement.
• Ability to obtain a Port Exemption Certificate for Cape Town.
• Strong focus on safety and customer service.
